Other Python sp.
We have always maintained a good
variety of python taxon. Over the years we have kept representatives of
the majority of the python family. We are currently maintaining the
following in our collection.

Lesser Sunda Island Pythons
(Python timorensis) |
|
 |
Recently re-named from the Timor Python, as this species does
not occur on the island of Timor. We have kept these beautiful snakes for
years. They are however a challenging species to breed.

Macklott's Pythons (Liasis
macklotti) |
|
|
|
The Macklott's Python or Indonesian Water Python has been a
favourite species of ours for years. Although strictly speaking not an
investment quality python, they are still great little sellers, have good sized
clutches and make excellent subjects to get on the python breeding ladder.
We managed to produce the first Calico Macklott's during the 1999 season.
This came from a random clutch produced by two long term captive adults of wild
caught origin. This particular pair were in our collection from 1992 and
went on to produce 12 - 15 youngsters every season. Unfortunately, we were
unable to prove out the Calico trait, as we lost the female Calico to a
bacterial infection in 2003, before we had mated her. Our current adults
are of very good size indeed!
